Eastmarch Secret Grotto is a large, cave-like Secret Grotto accessed by a trapdoor located east of Eldergleam Sanctuary. It consists of a series of tunnels that eventually break into a wide room with a fire pit. It contains a Goron Tunic, as well as some Bomb Flowers and the Bombos Medallion.
The first room splits into two directions. To the west lies a small chest. To the east lies a large room. On the north side of the room lies a Lesser Poe guarding an expertly locked Hero's Chest containing a Goron Tunic. On the east side of the room lies a chest containing a Tarnished Shard. To the south lies a Wizzrobe and Red Tektite guarding a passage that branches off into two directions. To the west lies a cave door that can only be opened from the other side. To the east lies a Block of Time, preventing further progress into the grotto unless the Song of Time is played with the Ocarina of Time in the player's inventory. Beyond the Block of Time awaits a Flame Atronach guarding the entrance to the next room. To the east lies a room in which a Wizzrobe and a Black Wolfos guard the Bombos Medallion.
The grotto is the only place to encounter a Black Wolfos outside of Ganon's dungeons.
Background and Inspiration[]
Eastmarch Secret Grotto was added in version 5.5 and was later expanded in version 6.4.
Prior to version 6.5.12, the Black Wolfos in the dungeon was a Dinolfos.
The fire pit in the grotto is intended to be a result of the geologic hotspot over which Eastmarch evidently sits.
A Dodongo was originally intended to be present and was fully implemented before JKalenad decided to wait for a later update to implement Dodongos on a wider scale. The Dodongo was replaced with a Dinofols, which was itself later replaced with a Black Wolfos.
