The Bane of Arthropods are powerful weapons that can be obtained by cashing in 45 Gold Skulltula Tokens at a Spider House.
All melée variants of the Bane of Arthropods share a unique enchantment, dealing 7 points of shock damage for 4 seconds to all enemies, while dealing 40 points of shock damage to arachnid and insectoid enemies. The enchantment can be learned by disenchanting any Bane of Arthropods weapon except Bane of Arthropods III or V.
Bane of Arthropods weapons are classified as Daedric weapons, except the standard Bane of Arthropods sword, which is classified as Dwarven. They can be tempered using a Silver Ingot.

The Bane of Arthropods was originally an enchanted Dwarven sword from the standalone Skulltula mod. It was later added into Relics of Hyrule.
The texture on the Bane of Arthropods has stayed the same since its conception, but was renamed Bane of Arthropods II in version 6.5. It has also kept its unique enchantment and its Daedric-level strength. The only way to obtain it has remained relatively the same, namely using a high number of Gold Skulltula tokens at a Spider House.
The Lesser Bane of Arthropods was implemented in version 6.5 to give a taste to players as encouragement to obtain the Bane of Arthropods II.
The name of the sword as well as its effects are based on an enchantment featured in Minecraft. The appearance of the sword resembles an iron sword from Minecraft.
